At the point of writing this, I have been having treatment for three months. I’ll be honest, I went with partly doubt and partly desperation that Shockwave could help.
A friend recommended it, having had treatment for nerve damage in his feet, he told that this would work and I should give it a go.
Within minutes of being with Andy he’d observed how I was walking and carrying myself (without me even realising) and was able to tell me where my problems lay – there were a lot of them!
I’ve had two spinal fusions L4/5 and C6/7 the latter resulting in extreme daily headaches and weekly migraines and this was the main reason I was here. I work with words (marketing and publishing) so I needed a clear head, at this point in time I was exhausted and quite frankly ready to give up on everything including life. That may sound dramatic but the headaches were out of control. Add to that I had a partial hysterectomy in April so was well and truly in menopause and my hormones had a life of their own. I’d gained weight and seriously hated everything about my body. I felt that it was working against me.
Andy was brilliant. He listened without judgement and asked me to prioritise the things that I needed sorting the most. Obviously, my head was the top thing, as far as anything else, that would be a bonus. He then went on to explain what was going on.
I’d had a problem with my left knee aged 13, over time this has caused me to carry myself oddly, the further back problems then compounding this. In a nutshell my feet, knees, hips and pelvis were totally out of whack. As this wasn’t a problem that had only just happened, I had calcium build up and what Andy terms “gloop” (I think he means muscle that’s attached to bone or something like that, you’ll have to ask him) which was restricting movement on my joints and muscles and causing a lot of the pain.
So to the treatment, I knew I was in for the long haul, Andy optimistically said six months, we’ll see. Now I’m going to be very honest, I wasn’t expecting it to be pleasant but I didn’t also expect it to hurt as much as it did. I consider myself to have a high pain threshold but I used a lot of naughty words throughout the treatment! They say no pain, no gain and in this case that’s correct… It’s not the most fun you can have in an hour BUT I can honestly say it’s been worth every single yelp!
Within two sessions my headaches had reduced, within two month’s they’d pretty much gone. I haven’t had a migraine now in almost three months. I wake up every morning without a headache and to me that’s miraculous.
On top of that, my menopause symptoms have calmed down (I started a new diet at the same time which I’m sure has helped but won’t have done it alone). I have more energy and I feel more like me.
I’m a long way from being repaired, but I’m further away from the wreck I felt three months ago. I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I ever made to walk through the door and start treatment and I highly recommend it.
